This is why we don’t use seed oils in our sauces….
What’s the big deal about seed oils anyway? They’re in everything– our favorite snacks, soups, sauces, etc…. And they’re a household staple for most. What if you knew that seed oils can be some of the biggest culprits behind inflammation, obesity, and other chronic diseases?
What are seed oils anyway?
Seed oils are extracted from the seeds of various plants, some you may be familiar with are: canola (rapeseed), soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower, etc… The oils are extracted by using a combination of high heat and chemicals (often hexane, a toxic compound), which can result in some of those fatty acids converting into trans fats.
What are the dangers?
You may be familiar with including omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in your diet; historically, the average person was consuming these at a 1:1 ratio– but since the industrialization of seed oils, this ratio has spiked to 15:1.
High levels of omega-6 fatty acids are found in most seed oils and are linked to various health problems:
- Inflammatory diseases
- Autoimmune diseases
- Cardiovascular disease
- Cancer
What we use instead…
Here at MOB Sauce, we use refined non-gmo peanut oil in most of our sauces, rather than rancid seed oils. Refined peanut oil is stripped of the allergen-causing protein, which makes it safe for consumption for those with allergies. Refined peanut oil also has several health benefits:
- Heart healthy – good source of vitamin E and antioxidants
- Diabetes control – can help keep blood sugar low
- Lowers cholesterol
The MOB Mission
As you may know, the MOB mission is to embrace flavors of the world to create mouthwatering plant-based sauces free from most primary allergens. We are not only focused on celebrating international flavors but also delivering those flavors in healthy forms. Seed oils are found in most household condiments/sauces, and we are on a mission to change that.
